Michelle Williamson, a Milwaukee-area college student, is graciously giving of herself from May to July, 2008 in order to raise money to build Milwaukee Habitat for Humanity homes... and to personally help build homes in many other communities across the country at the same time.  If you would like to help her succeed as she goes on this amazing biking excursion, you may read the thoughts and information shared by her below.  Thank you, Michelle, as you give the Habitat term "sweat equity" a whole new meaning!

My name is Michelle Williamson, and I am currently a Sophomore at Marquette University, majoring in Biomedical Engineering- Biomechanics.  At Marquette I have been involved in teaching local fifth graders science, helping feed the homeless through a group called "noon run," serving on the planning committee for the Women's Leadership Conference, as well as being actively involved in Campus Crusades.  I am currently becoming more involved with Habitat for Humanity, as I gear up to go on a cross country bike trip to raise awareness for affordable housing.

This summer I am going to be spending ten weeks riding my bike from North Carolina to San Diego, for an organization called Bike and Build.  The organization guides young adults on seven different routes across America, to help raise awareness for affordable housing.  Along the way we trade our bikes for our hammers, and build homes.  In order to participate on the trip, each rider is required to raise $4000 by the time we leave on May 21, 2008.  If you would like to support me, you may go to the website,
www.bikeandbuild.org, and click "donate," then select "Michelle Williamson" from the pull-down tab, or, you may send a check to "Bike and Build, 20 Jay Street Ste. M08, Brooklyn, NY 11201," being sure to include my name in the memo portion of the check.  I would greatly appreciate your support as I go on this once-in-a-lifetime adventure.  I look forward to this trip, as well as to continuing my support with the local Habitat for Humanity, here in Milwaukee.  If you have any questions at all, please feel free to contact me at michelle.williamson@marquette.edu .
