Three hundred eighty-nine (389) homes have been rehabilitated or built by Milwaukee Habitat for Humanity. Ninety-five (95) homes were rehabilitated. Two hundred twenty-eight (294) new homes have been completed.
Our primary target areas/neighborhoods in 2009 are:
Harambee - between Holton Street and I-43, from Keefe Avenue to North Avenue
Park West - between 20th Street and 27th Street/a railroad line, from Burleigh Street to Center Street/North Avenue
Woodlands Condominiums - between Swan Road (91st Street) and just west of 95th Street, from Allyn Street to Brown Deer Road
Some of the other neighborhhods in which we have built and rehabilitated homes are:
Metcalfe Park Neighborhood - between 27th and 38th Streets, from Center Street to North Avenue
Midtown - between 20th and 27th Streets, from North Avenue to Highland Boulevard
Walnut Hill - between 27th and 35th Streets, from North Avenue to Vliet Street
Washington Park - between 35th to 47th Streets, from North Avenue to Vliet Street
SOURCES OF HOMES

Land for new construction was purchased from the City of Milwaukee at costs ranging from $1.00 to $500.00 per lot. Homes for rehabilitation cost between $00-$15,000.

In addition to the affiliates in the United States, international affiliates are operating in more than 90 countries around the world. Our tithe has built homes in Nicaragua, Portugal, Kyrgystan, Guatemala, El Salvador and Sri Lanka. Our affiliate's tithe since 1984 is over $1,000,000 dollars.
Habitat volunteers from Milwaukee have worked on Habitat projects in Zambia, Kenya and Ethiopia, Africa; Nicaragua, Hungary, Puerto Rico, Portugal, Costa Rica and India. | Our Mission Statement: Milwaukee Habitat for Humanity is a non-profit Christian homeownership ministry building simple, decent, affordable housing in partnership with people in need.
