Celebrating Angela’s Accomplishments

Soon after a Milwaukee Habitat homeowner moves into their new home, we hold a special home dedication ceremony. This event brings together supporters, volunteers, donors, and staff to celebrate the homeowner’s new beginning. During the ceremony, the homeowner is invited to share their homeownership journey from renting to the tremendous milestone of purchasing their first home. Just a week and a half ago, we had the pleasure of celebrating with Angela, who graciously shared her own experiences and insights with us.

I came to Habitat because I was living in a house [where] in four years I went through four landlords. After the second landlord, they stopped fixing stuff. A ceiling almost fell on my son when he was a baby. It was bad. I saw Habitat on the internet and I was like why not give it a try. 

I applied and I was accepted and I was so happy.

I went from being a caregiver to now I just got my CNA license. It’s just been a lot working two jobs, taking care of my kids, doing my sweat equity hours, but I did it and I’m just so happy. I’m so proud of myself. I’m so thankful to all of you guys. It’s just wonderful.
