We are thrilled to share that unprecedented funding ($45M of $179M allocated) from the American Rescue Plan Act has been made available to support affordable housing in Milwaukee. These funds will be used to move our community forward in a transformative way! You can read more about that in this article: Milwaukee steers ARPA funds to housing, lead paint abatement
The funding allocated includes
- Strategic demolition: ($3M) prioritized by proximity to development
- Rehab: 150 city owned homes rehabilitated at $100K each
- Housing Trust Fund: $10M in funding with 25% that must be spent on new construction
- Lead abatement: $26M for lead abatement in homes.
We’re excited to partner with the City of Milwaukee to utilize these funds to increase accessibility to affordable housing and home ownership which creates a broader path for stronger neighborhoods and greater potential to close the health and social disparity gap that is challenging our community.
If you reached out to your alderman/woman we encourage you to reach out and say thank you to them for their support!
