On October 14th, 2021, Milwaukee Habitat for Humanity hosted the annual Framing the Future Gala from inside their early 20th century woodshop. The event, which welcomed more than 400 virtual and in-person attendees, raised over half a million dollars to build safe, affordable housing in our city: a new Framing the Future Gala record.
Framing the Future Gala, presented by BMO Harris Bank, is Milwaukee Habitat for Humanity’s largest annual fundraiser. The funds raised are crucial to the organization’s work to help local families earning below Milwaukee’s median income become first-time homebuyers.
Speaking in front of more than 200 in-person guests, Gala Co-Chair Dave Werner said, “There are thousands of families in Milwaukee that have barriers that they can’t overcome unless we have an organization like Habitat breaking down those barriers to make it possible for people to own their first home.”
In a surprise move, Accunet Mortgage CEO, Brian Wickert, announced he would increase his company’s $75,000 challenge match to $125,000. Generous attendees met the additional challenge, leading Milwaukee Habitat to their largest fundraiser in the organization’s history.
Representing the presenting sponsor, BMO Harris Bank, Joe Gessner announced the record breaking total in front of a buzzing crowd, “It takes all of us coming together to make this night such a success. Thank you all for your generosity.”
