Habitat ReStore celebrates re-use with donation drive at Mayfair

In addition to being one of the largest fundraisers for Milwaukee Habitat for Humanity, Milwaukee’s ReStores prevent over one million pounds of usable materials from ending up in local landfills each year. Thanks to generous donations from businesses and individuals, ReStore is helping give new life to furniture, cabinetry, appliances and more. ReStore will be celebrating reuse and repurposing all month long this April, punctuated by a Donation Drive at Mayfair on Saturday, April 26.

On Saturday, April 26th, from 10am until 2pm ReStore staff and volunteers will be in Macy’s Northeast lot at Mayfair ready to help community members with their spring cleaning. ReStore is the solution for gently used home furnishings, improvement supplies, and appliances people no longer need. In addition to collecting donations of reusable home goods, community members can donate clothing, shoes, toys, faulty or outdated electronics and computer equipment. ReStore works in partnership with licensed recycling partners to responsibly break down materials that cannot be resold, like computers. Proceeds from these reusable and recyclable materials fund Habitat’s mission of building homes, community and hope in Milwaukee. In appreciation of their support, all donors during the drive will receive special thank-you gifts from ReStore and participating Mayfair businesses.

This is the third year Mayfair has partnered with Habitat for Humanity ReStore for this annual donation drive, which has raised thousands of dollars for Habitat’s mission. Mayfair is owned and managed by General Growth Properties, a fully integrated, self-managed and self-administered real estate investment trust focused exclusively on owning, managing, leasing, and redeveloping high-quality regional malls throughout the United States and Brazil. GGP’s portfolio is comprised of 125 regional malls in the United States and 18 malls in Brazil comprising approximately 134 million square feet. GGP is headquartered in Chicago, Illinois, and publicly traded on the NYSE under the symbol GGP.
