On Tuesday, July 12, pastors from Catholic, Presbyterian, Methodist, Lutheran and Evangelical denominations joined Vicar General Father Tim Kitzke and Thrivent Financial CEO Brad Hewitt to help build a new construction Thrivent Builds with Habitat for Humanity home in the Washington Park Neighborhood. The home is being sponsored by Thrivent Financial, whose members began construction on the property in May.

This build day represents denominations and communities across the greater Milwaukee area coming together build safe, stable homes for families in need of affordable housing. First time homebuyer and single mother of three, Tiffany Nation, has been working alongside volunteers to help build this home, her future residence.

“I want to have something to call my own,” Tiffany states. She chose Habitat homeownership because it will allow her to pay less than she was previously paying in rent and to provide her family with the space they need.

Tiffany’s future home is sponsored by Thrivent Financial through their program, “Thrivent Builds with Habitat for Humanity.” Thrivent Builds with Habitat for Humanity is a multi-year, multi-million dollar partnership between Thrivent Financial and Habitat for Humanity International. From the partnership’s inception in 2005, Thrivent and its members have now committed more than $226 million and more than 4.7 million volunteer hours to the program. As a result, 4,819 homes have been built or renovated through the Thrivent Builds Homes, Thrivent Builds Repairs and Thrivent Builds Worldwide programs combined.
