Habitat Gala Raises $557,500 for Affordable Homeownership

On Thursday evening, Milwaukee Habitat for Humanity hosted its annual Framing the Future Gala inside the organization’s historic early 20th century woodshop. We were honored to welcome more than 300 guests, whose generosity helped raise $557,500 to build affordable homeownership across Milwaukee. That’s a new Framing the Future Gala Record.

Presented by BMO Harris Bank, the Framing the Future Gala is Milwaukee Habitat’s largest annual fundraiser. The dollars raised are vital to helping local families invest in the stability and equity of homeownership, and every gift reflects the shared commitment of our community.

Speaking to guests, Gala emcee Portia Young talked about the impact she’s seen in the community, “Together, we can build stronger neighborhoods. Together, we can help more children experience stability as they grow up. Together, we can help families invest in a home to call their own. Together, we can open the door to homeownership.”

A challenge match of $100,00 from Accunet Mortgage, was quickly met – and surpassed – by our generous attendees. The support of our attendees proves that together, we can make a real impact.

By the end of the evening, the overwhelming generosity proved just how powerful a community can be. This night is a reminder that when we unite behind this cause, we build more than houses; together, we build homes, community, and hope. Together, we open the door to homeownership. Together, We Build Homeownership

During the Framing the Future Gala, Paid in Full was premiered. For Milwaukee Habitat homeowners, homeownership is about more than having a place to live. It is about stability, opportunity and building something that can last for generations. Every few years, Habitat homeowners gather for a special mortgage burning ceremony, celebrating families who have made their final payment and can proudly say: paid in full.

In this video, Milwaukee Habitat homeowner Larina reflects on the journey from believing homeownership was out of reach to owning a home where her family could grow, gather and build lasting memories. Her story is shared alongside other Habitat homeowners celebrating what they have accomplished together: creating stability for their families, building community with their neighbors and establishing an asset that can open doors for the next generation.
