Other ways to get involved:

  • Schedule a Neighborhood Tour. Each tour is different and depends on your group's interest, but can include a visit to a Milwaukee Habitat build site with a chance to meet our volunteers or homeowners, a tour of our warehouse and/or a visit to one of our ReStores. Tours may last from 45 minutes to 2 hours depending on which location(s) you attend.
  • Decorate 2x4 boards. Bless a new homeowner with well-wishes and messages of hope by decorating the boards that will go in the walls of their new home.
  • Bring lunch/snacks to a volunteer group. Prepare lunch/snacks and bring it out to the job site for volunteers that day. This can be an entire meal or just snacks or drinks such as baked goods, popsicles, or lemonade. The group would get to interact with volunteers and homeowners during their lunch break on site and see the house they are working on. These opportunities are available most Wednesdays - Saturdays.
  • Make a welcome gift for a Habitat family. Welcome a family into their new Habitat home with a wooden door mat, mosaic stepping stones, or laundry baskets stocked with home supplies. If you have other ideas for gifts please let us know. Your group would supply the materials and create the gifts and we will help distribute them to the new homeowners.
  • Up-cycling! Paint, decorate or improve items from our ReStores to increase the resale value. Great for creative, DIY art students in middle school or high school.
  • Create your own fundraiser. Let the young people you work with plan a Habitat fundraiser that can help financially support the construction of a new home.
  • What creative and inspirational ideas do you have for special projects or events to support Milwaukee Habitat’s mission? We’d love to hear from you.
