Wendy and Joy at Home

Wendy is a single mom who works for Milwaukee County, and her Habitat home is filled with sunlight, music, and a real sense of peace. She talks about opening the blinds every morning to let the light in and turning on music so they can dance while they cook or clean. This home gave her and her daughter Joy something deeper than shelter. It gave them stability and calm.

Through Habitat’s Affordable Homeownership Program, Wendy was able to build community, gain financial stability, and create a place where her daughter feels safe and grounded. Because their mortgage is affordable, Joy can take dance, swim, and gymnastics classes and even travel with family.
