Milwaukee Habitat is acting locally and impacting globally!
Milwaukee Habitat for Humanity utilizes 10% of its unrestricted funds to build homes and hope globally in areas where families are in desperate need of affordable housing. We focus our efforts in two regions: El Salvador and Kyrgyzstan.
In partnership with local Habitat for Humanity affiliates, we work to provide safe, adequate shelter for area residents. To date we have tithed over $656,000 to El Salvador and over $847,000 to Kyrgyzstan to help battle the effects of poverty housing.
In doing so we are only the 9th Habitat affiliate, out of 1400, to tithe at least $2 million to our global partners. While the average tithe among Habitat affiliates in 2015 was $9,180, Milwaukee Habitat tithed $175,691.
Join the Habitat Global Village – “It’s More Than A Vacation!”
In addition to financial support, Milwaukee Habitat has lead 11 Global Village trips to El Salvador, where staff and volunteers work in partnership with local families in the construction of their homes. Though construction and design is much more modest, these homes represent the same values as they do to their American counterparts: safety, security, stability and affordability. Week long trips are typically in February.
