Standing Together After the Storm: Launching Milwaukee Habitat’s Storm Recovery Fund

The August 9–10 storms brought intense rainfall to Milwaukee County, leaving their mark on both our Greenfield ReStore and the homes of some Habitat homeowners. Our Greenfield ReStore sustained significant water damage and is currently closed while we assess the full extent of the impact and our options moving forward. At the same time, several Habitat homeowners are working through storm-related repairs of their own.

When challenges like these hit, we believe in responding quickly, compassionately, and as a community. That’s why we’ve launched the Milwaukee Habitat Storm Recovery Fund. This special fund gives us the flexibility to direct resources where they’re needed most—whether that’s addressing the Greenfield ReStore’s storm damage, assisting Habitat homeowners with urgent repairs, or supporting other storm-related needs across our organization.

Here’s what your support will make possible:

  • ReStore Recovery Efforts: Cleanup, repairs, and next steps for our Greenfield location.
  • Homeowner Assistance: Targeted support for repairs and recovery needs for Habitat homeowners impacted by the storms.
  • Mission Continuity: Keeping Habitat projects on track so more families can achieve affordable homeownership.

While our Greenfield location remains closed, our Franklin and Wauwatosa ReStores remain open and ready to welcome shoppers, donors, and volunteers. Your purchases and donations at these locations continue to fund our work in building and preserving affordable housing across Milwaukee County.

How you can help:

  1. Give to the Storm Recovery FundHelp Us Rebuild
  2. Shop, donate, or volunteer at our Franklin and Wauwatosa ReStores.
  3. Spread the word—share this campaign with friends, family, and co-workers.

Milwaukee Habitat has always been about more than buildings—it’s about people coming together to create stability and opportunity. With your support, we’ll weather this storm and emerge stronger than ever.

Thank you for standing with us, our staff, and our homeowners during this time of recovery.
