Milwaukee Habitat for Humanity has been awarded the Mayor’s Design Award for our efforts in revitalizing the Washington Park Neighborhood. In this 18th annual ceremony, the Mayor’s Design Awards are presented in an ongoing effort to recognize design excellence throughout the City of Milwaukee. Recipients have added value to their neighborhoods by restoring, constructing or enhancing their properties in a way that respects the urban fabric and contributes to the character of their surroundings.

Since 2013, Milwaukee Habitat began a comprehensive Neighborhood Revitalization strategy in Washington Park on Milwaukee’s North West side. This holistic approach to community building includes new construction homes, rehabbing city-owned foreclosures, and home repair. By making adequate housing affordable, Habitat for Humanity’s vision is to create a world where everyone has a decent place to live.

Focusing our efforts in a targeted area, Milwaukee Habitat is transforming Washington Park into a neighborhood that doesn’t just survive, but thrives.
