Enjoying Every Minute, a Habitual Highlight

Eighteen years ago, Gary started volunteering with Milwaukee Habitat. He started on the construction site and has been there since.

“I’m in my eighteenth year and I enjoy every minute of it,” Gary said.

Gary is now a Habitual volunteer. Habitat Habituals volunteer regularly on the construction site, in our ReStores, in the office, and more. When Gary first started volunteering in construction, he knew the basics, but learned while on site. 

“I’m a student of learning and I’ve learned so much,” Gary said. “What we’re doing, how to do things better, it’s so rewarding.”

Habituals like Gary are dedicated to our mission and are a crucial part of bringing safe, affordable housing to Milwaukee families.

“We built [this home] from scratch and we want that family to be successful,” Gary said talking about the Habitual sponsored home.
