Meet Kunda: Kunda was born in a refugee camp in Tanzania. Her parents were among 25,000 who fled Burundi in 1972. The camp’s living conditions were difficult, where people built mud houses for shelter and subsisted on UN rations and small gardens. Through great perseverance, Kunda arrived in the US with her daughter in 2007. She didn’t know anyone and recalled, “When I was ready to journey to America, I was very worried. I thought, ‘How will I start a new life in America?’”
Through your support, Kunda has found that new life in a safe, affordable Milwaukee Habitat for Humanity home.
