Marilyn recently moved into her brand-new Habitat home, achieving her goal of homeownership. On top of that, she is now living right across the street from a park, which has been a dream of hers.
Every time a Milwaukee Habitat homeowner moves into their home, we host a home dedication celebration. Together with family, friends, coworkers, Habitat staff, volunteers, and sponsors, we celebrate the tremendous milestone of becoming a first-time homebuyer.
Last week, we celebrated with Marilyn and she shared the following:
It means a lot to me because I prayed for this; I asked God. And I said, God put me in a brand-new house, not a house that I had to fix up. And so my grandkids can come over, my family can come over, we can go to the park, and here I am right in front of a park. My house is right here. It just blows my mind.
I thank God for all the Habitat [people]. We all came together and every time we meet up, it’s always positive.
I’m a people person. I work in a nursing home, so I love to be around a lot of people, encourage and uplift…
I thank God for this home so me and my family can come together.
The volunteers worked with me. It was like we were brothers and sisters. We were together and doing things together and getting the job done.
One volunteer, there were probably like 13 of us in the house [working], she ordered pizza for everybody. And it was a blessing.
The volunteers and everybody that I worked with, it was so awesome. It was like a godsend.
Congratulations, Marilyn!
