Safer At Home Thanks To You

We’re back with another edition of Good News Tues to spread a little joy from our Habitat family to yours. We’re all in this together. Here’s hoping this brings a little light to your day.

Safer At Home Thanks To You

This pandemic has been hard on all of us. But thanks to generous support from people like you, local families have been able to truly be safer at home. At a time when a stable, affordable home means so much more than a roof overhead, your support has made a life-changing difference for families in our community.

We checked in with our homeowners to see how they’ve been doing during these unprecedented times. Here’s what Dottie and Zandra had to say:

Dottie – Moved in November 2017

“Everything is going well with me and Austin! Being a homeowner is everything to me and means much more to me. I feel safe and secure in my home and overall wonderful just knowing that this house is mine. I’m so thankful and grateful for a home where I can host family gatherings, or least could before COVID. I made my third bedroom a guest bedroom for when Austin has siblings or relatives over. Overall, I’m truly blessed and happy with what I achieved for myself and my son, and I keep it going by working hard each and every day. I also financed a 2015 Nissan Altima (I needed reliable transportation). Once again I’m truly blessed and thankful that I’m one of the ones that still have a job and been working through this pandemic, just another reason why I’m so grateful.”

Zandra – Moved in June 2019

“I am doing pretty good! The low payments [on my mortgage] make it easier to better provide for my kids. I was in the middle of completing the booking for our Disney trip when COVID took over. I don’t really want to risk going until everything has completely settled down. Hopefully, things will calm down in 2021. The kids and I planted flowers outside for the first time, it was a good bonding experience. They really enjoyed starting the seeds and moving them outside. I am in the works of painting my kid’s room. My daughter’s room is almost finished and then I will be moving to my son’s room. I missed my window to paint the porch but I will be painting my porch in the spring. Thanks for checking in on me!”
