We’re back with another edition of Good News Tues to spread a little joy from our Habitat family to yours. We’re all in this together. Here’s hoping this brings a little light to your day.
Volunteers Help Build New ReStore in Franklin
If you’ve driven down South 27th Street between College and Rawson, you may have seen ReStore banners adorning the former Gander Mountain building (next to Lowe’s & Goodwill). Inside, volunteers and staff have been busy at work transforming the space into Milwaukee Habitat’s newest ReStore!
A few months back, we announced that ReStore Walker’s Point would be moving to a newer, larger location in Franklin. The move comes after tremendous support from people like you who’ve helped ReStore grow into a key fundraising source for our work to help families in need of safe, affordable housing. Each year our ReStores raise hundreds of thousands of dollars for our mission through the resale of donated furniture, appliances, cabinets and home goods to the public. Not only are these resources self-sustaining, but we help keep millions of pounds of usable materials out of landfills each year.
In this picture you’ll catch a sneak peek inside where volunteers have been hard at work building store fixtures, painting walls, and making repairs. This location will nearly triple the amount of space available at the Walker’s Point ReStore, which moved out in late December. We’re so excited for you to see what we hope to be one of the most successful ReStores in the state. ReStore Franklin is scheduled to open in early 2021. To do so, though, we’re going to need some help from people like you.
