Mike Scott started volunteering with Habitat Young Professionals (HYP) in October of 2012 after attending a volunteer orientation. He quickly decided to join HYP on a Global Village trip to El Salvador in February of 2013, and has since become one of HYP’s most active volunteers, putting in volunteer hours on the construction site on a monthly basis. In addition, he is co-leading the 2014 Global Village trip comprised of 30 volunteers, and he attends almost all HYP events!
Mike has recruited many of his friends to become HYP members and you can often find his group of friends populating the HYP build days. He says he started volunteering because he had worked with other Habitat affiliates in the past and wanted to get involved again. What he likes most about volunteering with Habitat is that he can work with his hands to help people in need.
So far, Mike’s favorite memory with Milwaukee Habitat is learning to do roofing despite his fear of heights!
